Adobe has announced that it will be discontinuing support for Flash Player on December 31st, 2020. Let’s be honest though, most people probably won’t notice.
Flash has been on its last leg since discontinuing Flash Player for mobile in 2012. Adobe did announce in 2017 that it would eventually drop Flash for desktop. Most current websites use WebGL, JavaScript, CSS, PHP and HTML 5. This does look like a hard deadline as Adobe has said Flash will be unavailable to download and content will be block from running in the player after the EOL date.
If you wax nostalgic for the Flash games of olde though, fear not: BlueMaxima has you covered with Flashpoint. BlueMaxima has, through the help of over a hundred contributors, saved more than 49,000 games and 3,600 animations from 16 different platforms. So if you too remember passing time in the early days of the web with flash games (when you should have been working on that 5 page paper for Literature) give them a look.
Cheers!
