New Graphics Mode for Crysis Remastered

Every PC gamer knows the meme. The unofficial standard for measuring the performance of a gaming rig since 2007 can be determined by answering the question, “Can it run Crysis?” For years, even the most tricked out, high performance computers would struggle and chug when running the game at maximum settings. There are still times where the original game will drop below 60 fps even today. Gamers have different ideas as to why this is the case. Some say that it is purely due to the sheer scale of what Crytek (the creator of Crysis) was attempting to do and others, such as Alex Battaglia of Eurogamer, say it was due to a miscalculation as to where pc hardware was going to go in the future. Regardless, the original Crysis is a part of the collective PC gaming lexicon and history.

Fast forward to today and Crytek is releasing Crysis Remastered…almost 13 years after the successful original. The game was supposed to come in July 2020. However, the first trailer for Crysis Remastered was met with a resounding, “meh.” Many fans said the graphics looked a bit too similar to the original and didn’t meet their lofty graphical expectations. In response, Crytek decided to delay the release on all platforms except for the Nintendo Switch. The developer promised to bring the graphics up to par and just recently posted an amazing 4K screenshot on twitter of the work they have been doing.

Forget “epic or “legendary” graphics settings…how about “Can it Run Crysis” settings? That is absolutely ridiculous and just the best thing ever. There are some complaints saying that it is a bit to “cartoony” with the high saturation colors but you can’t knock that render distance at high quality. We hope this screenshot is a graphical representation of the Crysis Remastered and not a representation of the expected fps! The recommended requirements look attainable to the average gamer but what will the experience be like in “Can it Run Crysis” mode? Crytek is promising better textures, improved assets, better particle effects, 8k or more potential resolution, ray tracing, and so much more.
