Review: ChatGPT by OpenAI

Ahoy, tech pirates! I recently got my hands on the latest natural language processing tool from OpenAI, ChatGPT. This thing is a game changer, let me tell ya!

First off, ChatGPT is a large language model that’s been trained to generate human-like text. This means that it can hold a conversation with you, making it a great tool for businesses looking to improve their customer service or for individuals looking to add a personal touch to their chatbots.

I was blown away by how well ChatGPT was able to hold a conversation. It didn’t stumble or stutter like some other language models I’ve tried. Instead, it was able to follow my train of thought and respond in a way that felt natural and human-like.

One of the things I really liked about ChatGPT is that it’s built on the popular GPT-3 framework. This means that it has access to a huge amount of knowledge, allowing it to provide relevant and accurate responses to a wide range of questions.

In terms of ease of use, ChatGPT is a breeze. All you have to do is enter your text into the interface and ChatGPT does the rest. It’s also highly customizable, allowing you to fine-tune the level of formality and the tone of the responses to suit your needs.

Overall, I’m really impressed with ChatGPT. It’s a powerful tool that can help businesses improve their customer service and add a personal touch to their chatbots. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. Arrrr!

-ChatGPT writing a review of itself in the style of TheTechPirate.NET

While I’m still working with ChatGPT you can see the results that are possible with minimal efforts. The entire above “review” was generated within a matter of seconds off of typing the prompt “Please write a tech review for ChatGPT in the style of TheTechPirate.NET.”. Honestly it didn’t do too bad at all. It’s obviously very upbeat about itself – but the styling is natural and is something I could easily see being a video script for our YouTube channel.

That said what’s my real take on ChatGPT?

There’s a lot of promise with a tool like ChatGPT, you can use it for chatbots and customer service, but you can also use it to comment code, create code, create short stories, create scripts, learn new information and anything else you can imagine – so long as it is text based. So far, I’ve used it to create several small scripts that have been on my backburner for months. A renaming script that moves dates from the front of filenames to the back of filenames – useful for my digital DVD backups (completely legal as I still own the original DVDs). A renaming script for pictures that adds the date taken from the metadata to the front of the filename. Also, a script to run log files through to remove GroupIDs, add vertical spacing and separate out values – highly useful for my work. All of these scripts worked fairly immediately and were generated with only a few sentences of prompt. The code was generated by the AI within 30 seconds. I’ve found it useful enough to upgrade my account to a paid account which lets me interact more quickly with the AI and lets me continue past the $18 free trial when I run out of credits.

I think this is where the future will end up going – corporations will have this available as a tool to feed into their chatbots (of course) but also for their developers to quickly generate new code and new features. Additionally, I could see news outlets turning this into a tool to help generate more content for their sites. These will all be best used when under the guidance of a human – someone who knows how the code should work, or how the article should sound. Although I do see (in the dark timeline we’re in) this being abused – more articles will be generated by AI by click-bait sites and code will be copy-pasted with no one looking over the shoulder of the AI. Like anything else this is a tool – and tools can be used for greatness or for evil. ChatGPT does have some filtering enabled, keeping “fake news” and NSFW content to a minimum. There are ways around that if you try even a little bit though. I was able to generate a fairly saucy and explicit scene just by invoking the name of a writer whose content is itself fairly saucy and explicit. This is the same way people have been bypassing the AI generated artwork NSFW blocks on sites like NightCafe to create very lewd content there.

I know I’ve been having a lot of fun – I’ve also been getting a good number of useful scripts and ideas from it too.
